How can it be that so many of us sneer at it now? Our savegames noted hundreds of hours played. Those trees! The horses! Those NPCs who went to work and came home again! I worked in a magazine office at the time, and the first thing my colleagues and I did every morning for a fortnight was swap tales of our adventures in Cyrodiil. Probably the most excited I've ever been a RPG ahead of playing it. Good god, Oblivion was exciting at the time, though. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time.Ī bit of a dirty word in some quarters of the roleplaying community, given that it marks the beginning of once-revered series' ongoing drift into all violence all the time, and directly led to Fallout's controversial divergence from its former cRPG path. Try entering an Oblivion gate, or the Shrouded Isles gate.Įither that, or go back to the dungeon that you started the alarm, and kill whatever is stuck trying to catch you.Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. I seem to be fully screwed :(.Īm I totally unique in this or has anyone had this problem? If so, any help? I did try quitting to main menu, quitting the game entirely, and also a full reboot and game restart. The only mod I have is Francescos and I haven’t seen any problems with that. I am running Oblivion with Shrouded isles and the most recent official patch.

This is pretty much a game killing bug at this point and a search both here and on the official forums was no help. Since then I’ve travelled across half the map (from Kvatch to Skingrad then up to Chorral) and have entered 2 cities and several buildings. It happened after a mission where I tried (and failed) to stealth through a dungeon and ended up running away with some monsters chasing me.

I seem to be permanently stuck in combat mode. So I’ve been messing with Oblivion a bit lately and have run into a nasty bug.
